FAQ

Wait, so what is MOAB?

MOAB or Morganton Outdoor And Bike, is an Outdoor Gear Festival held in downtown Morganton, NC aimed to support and grow the outdoor community in Morganton. The festival is also fundraiser for the Burke BearCats mountain bike team, part of NICA (Nation Interscholastic Cycling Association), who's mission is to get more kids on bikes!

How do I sell or swap the gear I have?

MOAB is free for individuals. There will be a section for gear swapping. You will be required to bring your own tent/table or tarp to set up on. Volunteers will help guide where you can setup. We suggest you bring only items you really want to sell and be prepared to take cash or cards. Don't forget a lawn chair!

How much does it cost?

MOAB is free for individuals to attend. That includes swapping gear or just attending the event.

Vendors/businesses are required to register and pay a small fee.

I'm a business/vendor and want to have a booth...what do I need to do?

Please contact us! Spaces for vendors/business require registration and a small fee. Fees are $50 per vendor or $25 plus a raffle item worth roughly $25 too. Fees benefit the Burke BearCats and help keep the event free to the public.

Will there be food and drinks?

We are planning on having food and drinks at MOAB available for purchase. Local vendors are encouraged to register and have a space!

Are pets allowed?

We ask that you don't bring your beloved pet as the event will be crowded and could be overwhelming for them! Thank you for understanding.

How do the raffles work?

We will have A LOT of raffles at MOAB. Tickets will range from $1 to $2 (depending on the item) and all proceeds will benefit the Burke BearCats mountain bike team.

Yes, you will be required to be present for the drawing of the raffles! Raffle drawing is at 2:30pm

Who are the Burke BearCats?

We are a member of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and compete in the North Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League (NCICL). NCICL is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to getting kids on bikes. Middle and high school students in Burke County and surrounding areas are invited to join the team. The all-volunteer coaching staff is stoked to help kids develop a love of life-long sports.

What is NCICL and NICA?

The North Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League was organized in 2015 to provide a fun, safe and high quality mountain biking program for students in grades 6 to 12. With the cooperation of our partners and our sponsors, we are able to provide a competitive mountain bike racing experience. Regardless of ability level, the North Carolina League is committed to providing a positive experience for all student-athletes in accordance with NICA’s Five Core Principles: Inclusive, Equal, Strong Body, Strong Mind and Strong Character. In turn, North Carolina’s goal is to create life-long cyclists who are conscientious, responsible and empowered.

The North Carolina League is committed to teaching safe riding practices. We believe forming school teams is the best way for students to learn how to ride safely. To learn safe riding techniques or to learn how to teach these skills, join our next rider camp or coaches conference. How do I get my kid registered to be on the Burke BearCats team?

Get in touch with us at burkebearcats@gmail.com and like our facebook page!

Riders must be between 6th - 12th grade, and school location does not matter as this is Burke County wide! Yes, homeschoolers are included too.

We want to thank all the businesses in Morganton that are sponsors to MOAB! We could not put on this event and have awesome raffles without their help!!
